Prevalence and pattern of breastfeeding among mothers in Al-Qassim region

Background: The objective of this study was to explore the prevalence breastfeeding (BF) among mothers living in Al-Qassim region Saudi Arabia. This also aimed evaluate factors causing delayed initiation BF. Method: cross-sectional conducted between November and December 2022 which who were eligible participate. A self-administered questionnaire used for collecting data sent electronically. Results: Out 265 participated study, 38.9% 30-40 years old over 70% having at least bachelor’s degree. Findings revealed that 82.5% timely initiated BF while 25.3% had exclusive initial first six months. Mothers cesarean delivery those did not complete gestational age significantly less proportion receive education about after (p=0.034 p=0.015 respectively). In addition, 4.13 times higher odds (p=0.000) preterm 7.76 more likely delay (p=0.027). Conclusions: Prevalence months found be quarter study. It required increase mothers’ knowledge educate them before facilitate Delivery method hence healthcare providers are counter situation prevalence.
